Simone is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering department at Rice. Her current research focuses on electrocatalysis for hydrogen peroxide production.

Odunola Orege | Graduate Student

M.S. Industrial Chemistry (2019, University of Ibadan)
During Odunola’s time at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, Odunola worked under the mentorship of Prof. F.A. Dawodu, where she focused on biomass valorization for energy and environmental applications. Odunola is currently working on the comparison of thermal and electrocatalytic ethanol oxidation, unlocking a door to sustainable commodity chemical production.
Outside of the lab, Odunola enjoys singing, sleeping, and cooking!

Abdullah S. Alqallaf | Graduate Student | AASU Fellow
B.S. Chemical & Life Science Engineering and a minor in chemistry (2024, VCU)
Abdullah is working on the electrochemical conversion of alkanes to olefins. He seeks to find an alternative, cost-effective option in place of olefin crackers to reduce their associated high carbon footprint.
